Description
Balto I (1995)
A half-wolf, half-husky named Balto gets a chance to become a hero when an outbreak of diphtheria threatens the children of Nome, Alaska in the winter of 1925. He leads a dog team on a 600-mile trip across the Alaskan wilderness to get medical supplies. The film is based on a true story which inspired the Iditarod dog sled race.
Balto II: Wolf Quest (2002)
This sequel continues the tale of Balto as he and his mate, Jenna, have a family of six puppies. Five of their puppies look like their husky mother, while one pup, Aleu, clearly takes her looks from her wolf hybrid father, who looks more like a wolf than a dog. Furthermore, while all of the other pups act like dogs, Aleu acts more like a wolf, howling quite often while the others don't howl at all, as well as possessing a high prey drive, as opposed to her parents (Balto, despite his appearance, always acted more like a dog, and while he does possess good fighting skills, he lacks the prey drive that wild wolves possess) and the rest of the pups.
Balto III: Wings of Change (2004)
The mail in the north used to be delivered by dogsled, but the success of airplane delivery leaves Balto and the other sled dogs feeling neglected. However, when a delivery plane crashes on a mountain side, the sled dogs get the opportunity to show their worth. This story also prominently features Balto's son, Kodi, who was among the puppy litter that we met in Balto II: Wolf Quest.
